Chonburi Center
Global Christian Welfare Foundation (est. 1989)
|
Chonburi Mission Center houses several ministries including a leadership training center, seminary, church, orphanage, and a recovery center for ex-drug addicts. The combined effect of these ministries offers the Thai community a holistic approach to growing in Christ.
The local government particularly appreciated the successful ministry in the RECOVERY CENTER. It grew to a point where it was being run by the "alumni" who had gone on to become pastors. But it is on hold right now after some political changes.
The ORPHANAGE has seen little children grow up to lead wholesome lives as Christian young adults, including some who have gone on to college. Many orphans are turned away due to a lack of facilities. We are currently praying for more funding so we can build a larger facility for the orphans.
The local CHURCH has earned the respect of the nearby community, and sees people coming to know Jesus Christ on a regular basis. Its members have learned to serve the poor and needy, and it has also been exciting to see the old and sick experience miraculous healings.
GLOBAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY provides an opportunity for students who cannot afford to study or live in Bangkok, and for those who come from Bangkok to follow their calling for a rural ministry. Their testimonies reveal God's power and grace. The seminary also precludes a common problem of students' not being able to return to their rural church after experiencing the Bangkok metropolis.
The LEADERSHIP TRAINING CENTER has served the wider body of Christians throughout Thailand, including pastors and Sunday school teachers from Bangkok. The Global Shepherd's Institute has been particularly effective in mobilizing and training leaders across the country.
SPECIAL EVENTS liks the annual Christmas Celebration for up to 1,500 children in the region has also been received with enthusiasm. Various churches and ministries also use the facilities for retreats and "prayer mountain" retreat.
FUTURE PLANS include an administrative center, seminary courses in English, youth ministry, ministry for senior citizens, and expansion of a ministry center closer to Bangkok. We are also looking for ministries and individuals who would partner with us in serving the Thai people holistically.

Where Is Chonburi Center?
|
Chonburi Mission Center is located near Banbung, Chonburi, about 2 hours southeast of Bangkok (or just over an hour from the new Suvarnabhumi Int'l Airport). The 250-acre land was donated by one family for the purpose of helping Thai people of all ages, from leadership training to caring for the orphans.
DIRECTIONS: From Bangkok, take the Motorway (Hwy 7) down south. Exit at Rt 344 towards Banbung (very soon after the 2nd toll gate); after 9km take the bridge to stay on 344 (locally known as 34) as you pass Banbung. After 18km, turn left on Rt 331 (locally known as 26; don't take the bridge), after 5.3km, right after a temple, turn right into a small road. Turn right after 0.9km. Go straight for 9.1km, turn right at the cross-roads; go straight for 1.7km and the center will be on your left side.

Info on Thailand
|
Chonburi is a Province, and Chonburi city is its capital city. The Mission Center is about 45 minutes away, near the town of Banbung. But the city is growing and attracting a lot of industries. We see potential for a great ministry here, especially in connection with the current center, which could create a holistic community approach to ministry in this region.
